RAWHIDE PULL EVEN WITH STORM WITH 6-3 WIN

The Visalia Rawhide got two-run homers from Juan Corniel (2) and Junior Franco (11) as they beat Lake Elsinore 6-3 on Thursday night at Valley Strong Ballpark. The win tied Visalia with the Storm at the top of the South division, both teams having 7-5 records.

Peniel Otano (W, 2-4) went five innings and allowed one run (0 ER) on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts to earn the win. Eric Mendez (S, 1) covered the final 1 2/3 innings and didn’t allow a run on one hit and no walks with three strikeouts for the save.

Charlis Aquino broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single to put the Storm up 1-0. Corniel followed in the bottom half with his two-run shot to put Visalia up 2-1.

Visalia added on with a single run in the sixth on J.J. D’Orazio‘s RBI single to make it 3-1. Franco’s two-run shot finished a three-run rally for Visalia in the seventh inning to make it 6-1. The Storm got two back in the eighth to make it 6-3 but got no closer.

Visalia has won two of the first three games of the six-game series with game four going Friday night at 6:30PM.
