RAWHIDE PULL EVEN WITH STORM WITH 6-3 WIN

The Visalia Rawhide got two-run homers from Juan Corniel (2) and Junior Franco (11) as they beat Lake Elsinore 6-3 on Thursday night at Valley Strong Ballpark. The win tied Visalia with the Storm at the top of the South division, both teams having 7-5 records.

Peniel Otano (W, 2-4) went five innings and allowed one run (0 ER) on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts to earn the win. Eric Mendez (S, 1) covered the final 1 2/3 innings and didn’t allow a run on one hit and no walks with three strikeouts for the save.

RAWHIDE RALLY LATE FOR 4-2 WIN AT RANCHO

The Visalia Rawhide scored in each of the last three innings to overtake the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and come away with a 4-2 win at LoanMart Field Thursday night. Oscar Santos was 2-for-4 and started the offense with a seventh-inning home run, his fourth of the year.

The game was scoreless through five innings. Visalia starter Peniel Otano went 6 2/3 innings and allowed just two runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout. Both runs came on solo homers, one each by Hector Martinez (1) and Yunior Garcia (6).

GRIZZLIES GET 4 IN THE 9TH TO STUN RAWHIDE

The Fresno Grizzlies pulled off some 9th-inning heroics in Visalia Friday night to come back from two runs down for a 6-4 win. Two-out, ninth-inning heroics to be exact. Juan Guerrero came to the plate with two on and two out, the Rawhide needing one more out to seal the win and even the series.

Guerrero drilled a three-run shot to left field to put the Grizzlies up 5-4 and the visitors tacked on an additional run to make it 6-4, the eventual final score.

RAWHIDE HANG ON FOR 7-5 WIN AT RANCHO

The Visalia Rawhide got back in the win column with a 7-5 victory over the Quakes at Rancho Cucamonga Friday night. Jordan Lawler belted his fifth homer of the season and Deyvison De Los Santos hit his fourth to lead an 11-hit attack.

Visalia starter Peniel Otano went the first four innings and allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Listher Sosa (W, 1-1) came on in the fifth inning with a 4-1 lead and threw two scoreless innings, picking up his first win of the season. The 20-year old from the Dominican Republic walked two and struck out one with out allowing a hit.
