QUAKES TOP RAWHIDE 4-2 IN SERIES OPENER

Eduardo Quintero homered and Rancho Cucamonga’s bullpen pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings as the Quakes downed the Visalia Rawhide 4-2 at LoanMart Field in Tuesday’s series opener. Cameron Decker had two hits and starter Sterling Patick allowed just two runs while scattering seven hits and a walk over 4 1/3 innings.

Quintero, the Dodgers #5 prospect per MLB.com, led off the bottom of the first inning with his 13th home run of the season to put the Quakes up 1-0. The 19-year old from Venezeula is hitting .318/.428/.567 over 66 games this season.

Patick, gave way to RHP Shawndrick Oduber with one out in the fifth, who pitched out of a Rawhide threat and went 1 2/3 scoreless innings in picking up the win to go 3-0 on the season.

With the game tied 1-1 in the third, Jaron Elkins doubled in a run and Decker singled in another to give Rancho Cucamonga a 3-1 lead which would hold up with an additional run in the fourth.

Visalia 2B JD Dix, playing in his second Cal League game, went 2-for-4 with a double. Dix was a first-round pick in 2024, 35th overall, and is ranked as the Diamondbacks’ #12 prospect. Alex Benua was 3-for-4 with a home run for the Rawhide.

Game 2 of the series is Wednesday night at 6:30PM.
