STORM ROUT RAWHIDE, TAKE ONE-GAME LEAD IN SOUTH

The Lake Elsinore Storm had a 7-run inning to pull out to a big lead and dropped the Visalia Rawhide 13-1 at Valley Strong Ballpark Wednesday night. Marcos Castanon homered (10) and drove in three runs. James Wood had three hits and five RBIs.

The Storm (7-4) evened the series at one game apiece and took a one-game lead in the South division over the Rawhide (6-5).

Bodi Rascon (W, 4-1) went five innings for Lake Elsinore and gave up a run on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Three relievers covered four scoreless innings.

Justin Farmer was 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot with two walks, two doubles and three runs scored. Jared Alvarez-Lopez had two hits and drove in a run with one run scored.

Lake Elsinore was up 1-0 when they chased Rawhide starter Josh Swales (L, 1-5) with a seven-run outburst in the fourth inning. Juan Corniel singled in Visalia’s only run in the fifth inning and the Storm put up three in the sixth and two in the ninth to complete the scoring. Corniel was 2-for-4 and Alvin Guzman was 2-for-4 with a triple for Visalia.

Game three of the six-game series is Thursday at 6:30PM.
