CLARKE HOMER POWERS STOCKTON’S 7-6 WIN OVER QUAKES

Denzel Clarke went 2-for-5 and hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Stockton Ports the lead for good in a 7-6 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Wednesday night at LoanMart Field. Clarke’s fifth homer of the season broke a 5-5 tie.

Junior Perez belted his third home run of the season in the fifth inning to draw Stockton even. Rancho Cucamonga struck for a run in the bottom of the ninth but left the tying run on base.

Stockton’s CJ Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with two walks. Max Muncy was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang went the first five innings and gave up five runs on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Jack Owen (W, 1-2) went an inning in relief with no runs, hits or walks and one strikeout.

Diego Cartaya hit his seventh homer of the year for Rancho Cucamonga.
