66ERS TOP MODESTO 7-5 IN 10 INNINGS

The Inland Empire 66ers got three runs in the top of the 10th inning at Modesto Tuesday night to beat the Nuts by a score of 7-5. Vojtech Mensik hit a bases-loaded single to drive in two runs and break a 4-4 tie, with a balk later adding another run. The 66ers survived an RBI single from Edwin Arroyo in the bottom of the 10th and locked down the win.

After the extra-inning installed runner was placed on second base, Inland Empire loaded the bases on a walk and a HBP, setting up Mensik’s two-run single.

Arroyo knocked in Modesto’s installed runner with his RBI single and Ben Ramirez followed with a single to put the tying runs on base with only one out.

Hayden Seig (W, 4-1) got the final two outs to lock down the win. Seig went two innings and allowed just the one unearned run on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Arol Vera was 3-for-5 for the 66ers, who drew 10 walks along with their seven hits.

Modesto’s Robert Perez was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.

Game two of the six-game series is Wednesday at 4:05PM.
