STOCKTON RALLIES PAST FRESNO 5-4

The Stockton Ports (2-4) let a four-run lead get away, then pushed across a run in the ninth inning to beat the Fresno Grizzlies (3-3) by a score of 5-4 on Thursday night. SS Jose Escorche singled in the eventual game-winner as Stockton won for the second times in three games against the Grizzlies.

The bottom of the order came up big for the Ports as T.J. Schofield-Sam had three hits, including two doubles, and scored the winning run batting out of the seventh spot. Number eight hitter Kevin Richards had two hits, as did Escorche out of the nine-hole.

Starting pitcher Jake Garland was brilliant for five innings, allowing no runs or hits while striking out seven, and left with a 2-0 lead. But the right-hander out of Miami got a no-decision after the bullpen gave up an eventual 4-0 lead. Pedro Santos (W, 1-1) finished it off with two scoreless innings to earn the win.

The six-game series continues Friday night at 6:50PM.

RAWHIDE RALLY ON QUAKES E’S, DIAZ SHARP

STOCKTON HOLDS OFF FRESNO 10-8 AS TEAMS TRADE SLAMS LATE

Nick Brueser‘s eighth-inning grand slam proved just enough for Stockton to outlast the Fresno Grizzlies in a wildly entertaining game on Saturday night at Chuckchansi Park. Brueser’s blast gave the Ports a late 10-4 lead, but the home team got a slam of its own from Trevor Boone in a long bottom of the ninth inning before falling just short in a 10-8 Stockton win.

The Ports got on the board first in the second inning with a three-run rally started by a Junior Perez single. Back-to-back doubles by T.J. Schofield-Sam and Robert Puason made it 2-0 before Max Muncy made it 3-0 with an RBI single.

PINEDA’S 3-RUN HOMER POWERS STOCKTON’S 6-5 WIN IN FRESNO

The Stockton Ports put up four runs in the second inning and held on for a 6-5 win in Fresno on Thursday night. The visitors used three singles and a Pedro Pineda three-run shot to open up an early 4-0 lead and went on to win for the seventh time in their last 11 games.

The Grizzlies came back with two runs in the third inning on a fielder’s choice and a Braiden Ward steal of home on ball four to the batter where the throw needlessly went to second base as Warming Bernabel was “stealing” second base, to make it 4-2, Stockton.

The Ports took a 6-3 lead to the bottom of the ninth and Fresno struck for two runs but stranded the tying run on third base. Ward doubled in a run to make it 6-4 with runners on second and third and one out. A groundout brought in another run to make it 6-5 with Ward on third.

Stockton reliever Hunter Breault then induced a ground ball back to the box which ultimately got the final out.

Luke Anderson (W, 2-2) went 5 1/3 innings with 2 runs allowed, but 0 ER, on one hit and six walks, striking out three. Breault got the shaky save for his eventful ninth inning.

Stockton’s Junior Perez was 2-3 with a triple. T.J. Schofield-Sam was 2-4 with a double.

Fresno won the first two games and Stockton now looks to even the series on Friday night at 6:50.
