RAWHIDE EVEN SERIES WITH 9-1 WIN

Ricardo Yan struck out nine over six scoreless innings and Gavin Logan had three hits, including a home run, as Visalia evened its series with Stockton with a 9-1 win on Wednesday night at Valley Strong Ballpark. Anderson Rojas homered and drove in three runs for the Rawhide.

Logan’s first hit was an RBI triple in the second inning that doubled Visalia’s early lead to 2-0. In the sixth inning, the 2022 draft pick from Oregon State launched his third home run of the season to post the Rawhide to a 5-0 lead.

PORTS JUMP ON RAWHIDE EARLY, CRUISE TO GAME ONE WIN

The Stockton Ports opened their six-game series in Visalia with a four-run first inning and went on to a 7-1 win over the Rawhide at Valley Strong Ballpark on Tuesday. Henry Bolte belted a two-run homer to start the scoring, then added a solo shot in the third inning to lead the Stockton offense.

The Ports chased Visalia starter Jacob Steinmetz with two outs in the first inning when the right-hander reached the organizational limit for pitches in an inning. Steinmetz left with two on and two out, down 2-0 and his two runners came in on a Cooper Uhl single that made it 4-0 Stockton.

ETHAN SALAS, MARCELO PEREZ NAMED CAL LEAGUE PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Lake Elsinore C Ethan Salas went 10-for-22 with three home runs over five games at Stockton to earn Cal League Player Of The Week honors. On Wednesday night, Salas had four hits including a home run as the Storm beat the Ports in extra innings.The 17-year old from Kissimmee, FL batted .366/.416/.720 with seven home runs.for the month of July.

Modesto right-hander Marcelo Perez allowed just one run on one hit over six innings on Saturday night against Visalia to earn Cal League Pitcher of the Week honors. The 2022 draft pick from TCU struck out six with no walks as the Nuts beat the Rawhide 8-4. On the season, Perez has a WHiP of 1.07 and opponents are batting .215 against him.

NUTS FINISH OFF VISALIA SERIES WINNING FIVE OF SIX

Walking Cabrera had four hits and Tyler Cleveland went six innings to earn his 10th win of the season as Modesto beat Visalia 7-5 on Sunday. The Nuts took five of the six games in the series.

Michael Arroyo tripled in a run in the third inning to start the scoring. Visalia took the lead in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Gavin Logan.

Modesto took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth as they put up five runs, capped off by Miguel Perez‘ inside-the-park three run homer. Visalia struck for three runs in the seventh to make it a one-run game at 6-5 but would get no closer.

NUTS STAY HOT WITH 8-4 WIN OVER VISALIA

The Modesto Nuts jumped out ahead with a five-run second inning and went on to an 8-4 win over the Visalia Rawhide on Friday night. Jared Sundstrom homered for the second straight night to give the Nuts a 2-1 lead and Marcelo Perez pitched six one-hit innings to lead the Nuts to their fifth win in their last six games.

The Nuts have taken four of the first five games of the six-game series at John Thurman Field.

SUNDSTROM SLAM LIFTS MODESTO OVER VISALIA

Jared Sundstrom capped off a six-run rally with a grand slam home run that proved to be the difference in Modesto’s 7-3 win over Visalia on Friday night at John Thurman Field. The Nuts came back from 3-1 down to win for the third time in four games vs. the Rawhide.

Michael Morales (W, 5-4) gave up one earned run over five innings but left the game trailing. The right-hander allowed two hits and three walks while striking out seven. Two unearned runs had the Nuts trailing 3-1 going to the bottom of the fifth when the six-run rally made a winner of Morales.

RAWHIDE BREAK THROUGH LATE TO WIN PITCHER’S DUEL

Gavin Conticello broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Visalia Rawhide to a 3-1 win over the Modesto Nuts on Thursday night at John Thurman Field. The Nuts lead the six-game series two games to one.

Modesto scored a run in the bottom of the second and carried a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning. Visalia tied it up with an RBI single by Danyer Sanabria.

8-RUN INNING LIFTS MODESTO OVER VISALIA

The Modesto Nuts scored eight times in the fifth inning and pulled away from Visalia in game two of their six-game series at John Thurman Field Wednesday night, winning 15-2. Gabe Moncada belted his 10th home run of the season, a three-run shot, and three different Nuts players had two-hits apiece.

Miguel Perez doubled, tripled and drove in three runs for Modesto. Tatem Levins was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

CLEVELAND POSTS LEAGUE-LEADING 9TH WIN AS MODESTO TOPS VISALIA

Tyler Cleveland went 7 2/3 innings and allowed just one run as the Modesto Nuts beat the Visalia Rawhide 3-1 on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field. It was Cleveland’s longest outing of the season and he leads the Cal League with nine wins.

Modesto broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when they rallied for three runs. Gabe Moncada doubled in a run to start the scoring. Freuddy Batista and Milkar Perez followed with RBI singles to make it 3-0.

JOSH HOOD, JOEL HURTADO NAMED CAL LEAGUE PLAYER/PITHER OF THE WEEK

Modesto SS Josh Hood went 12-for-23 with two home runs in six games against the Fresno Grizzlies last week to earn Player Of The Week honors. The 2022 sixth-round draft pick had five straight multi-hit games, starting with a three-hit night on Tuesday. For the month of July, Hood is batting .304/.385/.449.

Inland Empire RHP Joel Hurtado was named Cal League Pitcher Of The Week for his six shutout innings against Visalia on Tuesday night. Hurtado (4-2) gave up two hits and one walk with six strikeouts as the 66ers cruised to a 12-1 win over the Rawhide. The six-inning, 75-pitch outing was the longest of the season for the 22-yeaar old.
