NUTS FINISH OFF VISALIA SERIES WINNING FIVE OF SIX

Walking Cabrera had four hits and Tyler Cleveland went six innings to earn his 10th win of the season as Modesto beat Visalia 7-5 on Sunday. The Nuts took five of the six games in the series.

Michael Arroyo tripled in a run in the third inning to start the scoring. Visalia took the lead in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Gavin Logan.

Modesto took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth as they put up five runs, capped off by Miguel Perez‘ inside-the-park three run homer. Visalia struck for three runs in the seventh to make it a one-run game at 6-5 but would get no closer.

Clevelend allowed two runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts over his six innings. Natanael Garabitos pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.

Modesto has won eight of its last 10 games and reached the .500 mark in the second half at 15-15. They are in second place in the North division, seven games back. Visalia (11-19) is seven games out of first place in the South division.

The Nuts next host Lake Elsinore starting Tuesday night. The Rawhide return home to host Stockton.
