STOCKTON BREAKS LOSING STREAK WITH WIN OVER LAKE ELSINORE

The Stockton Ports’ bats broke out early with a seven-run second inning on their way to a 12-3 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm at the Diamond on Tuesday night. Mariano Ricciardi had four hits from the leadoff spot and Grant Judkins (W, 3-2) struck out six over six shutout innings to earn the win.

The Ports (8-17) used a 17-hit attack to break a five-game losing streak while the Storm (12-13) dropped its sixth straight.

Stockton racked up six hits in the second inning, including a three-run homer from Shane McGuire, his first of the season. A two-run fourth inning and a three run sixth ran the lead to 12-0 before Lake Elsinore struck for three in the bottom of the eighth.

Every Stockton starter had a base hit and six of them had two hits. Jhoan Paulino had two doubles and drove in three runs. Marcos Brito singled, walked and scored three runs.

Judkins allowed just three hits and no walks over six innings with six strikeouts while keeping the Storm off the board. Aaron Cohn covered the last 1 1/3 innings with no runs, hits or walks and one strikeout.

Game two of the six-game series is Wednesday night at 6:05PM.
