QUAKES BELT OUT 16 HITS, TOP RAWHIDE 11-2

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes pounded out 16 hits and six pitchers combined to give up just three hits in an 11-2 win over the Visalia Rawhide at Valley Strong Ballpark Sunday night. Damon Keith hit his 12th homer and Yeiner Fernandez had four hits and three RBIs to lead the charge.

Peter Huebeck started and went two shutout innings for the Quakes, giving up no hits or walks with four strikeouts. Ronan Kopp (W, 5-2) came on to pitch four innings with no runs and one hit allowed and one walk against seven strikeouts.

Five Quakes had multi-hit games, led by Fernandez with four and Yunior Garcia with three. Kenneth Betancourt was 2-for-4 with a walk and 2 RBIs.

Visalia starter Liam Norris (L, 0-7) gave up three first-inning runs and came out after 2 1/3, ultimately charged with six earned runs. The Quakes kept it up, scoring in five of the first six innings.

Rancho Cucamonga (13-11) won two of three in the short series coming out of the break and is now one game behind Inland Empire in the South division. Visalia (11-13) is three games out of first. The Quakes travel to San Jose for a six-game series starting on Tuesday while Visalia heads to San Bernardino for six games with the 66ers.
