SAN JOSE SHUTS OUT RANCHO CUCAMONGA FOR 3RD STRAIGHT WIN

The San Jose Giants got started with a four-run third inning and four pitchers combined to shut out the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 6-0 on Wednesday night at Excite Ballpark. Grant McCray had three hits and scored three runs while Seth Lonsway struck out seven over four scoreless innings for the Giants.

An HBP and two walks loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning and San Jose cashed in for four runs with a single, two stolen bases, two wild pitches and another HBP. Just one base hit as San Jose went up 4-0.

Hayden Cantrelle made it 5-0 with an RBI single in the fourth inning and the Giants tacked on one more in the seventh. McCray singled, stole second, went to third on a bad throw a scored on a wild pitch.

Lonsway allowed one hit and three walks over his four innings with seven K’s. Matt Mikulksi (W, 4-3) went three innings and gave up one hit and two walks with five strikeouts. Tyler Myrick pitched a clean eighth inning and John Gavin finished it off with a scoreless ninth inning where he allowed one hit and stuck out three.

San Jose (14-12) is a game behind first-place Modesto in the North division while Rancho Cucamonga (13-13) is three games behind Inland Empire in the South.

San Jose has won the first two games of the six-game series with game three on Thursday night at 6:30PM.
