STORM STRETCH DIVISION LEAD WITH 8-2 WIN OVER SAN JOSE

The Lake Elsinore Storm jumped on top with a three-run second inning and pounded out 12 hits in an 8-2 win over the San Jose Giants on Wednesday night at The Diamond. Cole Cummings had three hits and Carlos Luis had three hits and drove in three.

Bodi Rascon started for the Storm and went 4 IP with 1 run allowed on 5 hits and a walk with 1 strikeout for a ND. Levi Thomas (W, 2-0) came on for 3 1/3 innings of relief and allowed 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 3 without walking anyone for the win. Ben Miller pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and gave up 2 hits without allowing a run or a walk and striking out 2.

STORM TOSS 2-HITTER AT 66ERS

Three Lake Elsinore pitchers combined to allow one run on two hits as the Storm beat Inland Empire 5-1 on Tuesday night at The Diamond. Ruben Galindo (W, 1-2) went the first five innings and gave up a run on one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.

The 66ers got on the board in the top of the first with a leadoff triple by Arol Vera followed by a sac fly/error to make it 1-0. Lake Elsinore took the lead in the second inning with a two-run rally and did the same in the third to make it 4-1. They pushed across another run in the eighth on a double-steal to make it 5-1.

LATE RALLY, BULLPEN SECURE STORM WIN

The Lake Elsinore Storm got the tying run in the seventh inning and then rallied for three runs in the eighth for a 5-2 win in Visalia over the Rawhide Wednesday night. Starter Levi Thomas went four strong innings and three relievers covered five scoreless innings the rest of the way.

2B Max Ferguson had two hits, including a triple, and LF Lucas Dunn had two doubles and drove in two runs in the eighth inning rally for Lake Elsinore.

MODESTO TOPS STOCKTON FOR 8TH STRAIGHT WIN

The Modesto Nuts made it eight straight wins on Saturday night with a 10-7 win over Stockton. CF Colin Davis was 3-for-3 and drove in three runs while 2B Cesar Izturis Jr. was 3-for-4 with two doubles. RF Spencer Packard was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Modesto scored nine runs over the first four innings off of Stockton starter RHP Angello Infante. RHP Sam Carlson (W, 5-3) started for the Nuts and went five innings, allowing three runs (2ER) on four hits and no walks with eight strikeouts.

THURSDAY SCORES

All four winning teams scored in double digits on Wednesday. The top of the North division stayed the same while Inland Empire took over first place in the South division.
