STORM STRETCH DIVISION LEAD WITH 8-2 WIN OVER SAN JOSE

The Lake Elsinore Storm jumped on top with a three-run second inning and pounded out 12 hits in an 8-2 win over the San Jose Giants on Wednesday night at The Diamond. Cole Cummings had three hits and Carlos Luis had three hits and drove in three.

Bodi Rascon started for the Storm and went 4 IP with 1 run allowed on 5 hits and a walk with 1 strikeout for a ND. Levi Thomas (W, 2-0) came on for 3 1/3 innings of relief and allowed 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 3 without walking anyone for the win. Ben Miller pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and gave up 2 hits without allowing a run or a walk and striking out 2.

Grant McCray and Max Wright each had two hits for the Giants. Landen Roupp pitched the final three innings for San Jose and allowed 1 run on 2 hits with no walks and 6 Ks.

Lake Elsinore (31-22) stretched its lead in the South division to two games over Rancho Cucamonga (29-24). San Jose (31-22) lost a game to first-place Fresno (34-19) and is now three games back in the North.

The teams have split the first two games of the six-game series. Game three goes Thursday night at 7:05PM.
