INLAND EMPIRE TOPS LAKE ELSINORE WITH 4-RUN INNING

The Inland Empire 66ers fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but came back with four runs in the third and won as starter Julio Goff and two relievers held down the Storm the rest of the way for a 4-1 win. RBI singles from Carson Matthews and Kyren Paris gave IE the lead that they would never relinquish.

Lake Elsinore’s Euribiel Angeles led off the game with a double and came around to score on a single by Jarryd Dale. That would be all that the Storm would get off of Goff, who  went 5 IP and allowed six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

In the fourth, an HBP and a walk set up Matthews’ RBI single that tied the game  at 1-1. After a D’Shawn Knowles single, Paris followed with a 2-RBI single to make it 3-1, 66ers. Knowles came in on a groundout by Braxton Martinez to make it 4-1.

The 66ers got two shutout innings apiece from RHP Brandon Dufault and RHP Ryan Costeiu. Neither allowed a hit and both hurlers walked one while striking out two. Goff (5-5) earned the win while Costeiu got his first save.
