The Grizzlies got a four-hit game from DH Drew Romo and three hits and three RBIs from LF Zac Veen. Romo’s line is now .313/.349/.485. The Grizzlies  won four of the six games in this series and joined the 30-win club at 30-18. Only San Jose has more wins (33) and Fresno sits three games back in the North division. Visalia is 13-35, 11 1/2 games out in the South.

Four Modesto pitchers combined to allow just one run on three hits and five walks with RHP Kelvin Nunez (W, 2-1) getting the win with three shutout innings. The two teams split the six-game series. The Nuts (26-22) are seven games out in the North division. Lake Elsinore (23-25) is 1 1/2 games out of first place in the South division.

The Quakes salvaged the finale after dropping the first five games and moved back over .500 at 24-23. Homers from Eddys Leonard, Imanol Vargas, Ismael Alcantara and Jonny Deluca powered Rancho’s 13-hit attack. The only team in the South with a record over .500, the Quakes have a 1 1/2 game lead. San Jose has the best record in the league at 33-15, good for a three-game lead in the North.

A four-run sixth inning proved to be the difference as Inland Empire won to split the series with Stockton. 1B Braxton Martinez went 2-for-5 with three RBIs including a bases-clearing double in the sixth. Martinez  is now batting .317/.431/.585. Inland Empire is 22-25, two games out in the South division. Stockton (20-28) is 13 games out in the North.
