BIG INNINGS PUSH QUAKES PAST STORM

Lake Elsinore @ Rancho Cucamonga Gm 4

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes had a pair of six-run innings to top Lake Elsinore’s one five-run inning in a 12-5 win at LoanMart Field on Friday night. Josue De Paula hit a grand slam and Luis Rodriguez had three hits to lead Rancho Cucamonga’s 12-hit attack.

Lake Elsinore threw a pair of MLBers start the game with wildly different results. Drew Pomeranz started the game and struck out the side on 14 pitches. Tim Hill came out for the second inning and didn’t do quite as well. The 33-year old lefty got two outs, but allowed six runs on seven hits, five of the runs earned.

The Quakes held the 6-0 lead until Lake Elsinore put five up in the fifth inning. Homer Bush Jr. cleared the bases with a three-run double and later came in on a passed ball. Nick Vogt tripled in a run to make it 6-5.

Rancho Cucamonga pulled away in the seventh with their second six-run inning of the game. De Paula’s grand slam, his second homer of the season finished off the scoring.

Rancho Cucamonga (24-28) has won three of the first four games of the series and is now tied with Lake Elsinore and Visalia in second place, five games behind Inland Empire. Game five of the series is Saturday at 6:30PM.
