LAKE ELSINORE BATS AROUND FOR 13-4 WIN OVER MODESTO

The Lake Elsinore offense was nearly unstoppable in the middle innings as they poured it on for a 13-4 win over the Modesto Nuts at The Diamond on Friday night. The Storm scored at least three runs in four straight innings and put up their 13 runs on 17 hits.

Albert Fabian was a double shy of hitting for the cycle as he went 3-for-5 with a triple, a homer (10) and four RBIs with three runs scored. James Wood and Marcos Castanon also had three hits and Nerwilian Cedeno was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Starter Garrett Hawkins went four scoreless innings for Lake Elsinore, allowing four hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Duncan Snider (W, 2-0) covered the next four innings and gave up a run on one hit and two walks with six strikeouts to earn the win.

Freuddy Batista and Randy Bednar each had two hits for Modesto. Joseph Hernandez pitched three scoreless innings to start the game for the Nuts and gave up three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

The game was scoreless going to the bottom of the fourth when Modesto put a three-spot on the board. They did the same in the next two innings and then scored four runs in the seventh to build a 13-1 lead. Modesto rallied for three runs in the ninth to finish the scoring at 13-4.

Lake Elsinore (12-7) has won three of the first four games in the six-game series and has the best second-half record in the California League and a two-game lead over Visalia in the South division. Game five will be Saturday night at 5:05PM.
