MENSIK’S 4 HITS LEAD 66ERS OVER GIANTS

Vojtech Mensik went 4-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead Inland Empire in an 11-6 win over San Jose on Tuesday at San Manuel Stadium. D’Shawn Knowles had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs and scored four runs.

The Giants jumped out in front with a two-run first inning but Inland Empire came back with four runs in the bottom half. They went back and forth the rest of the way with the teams combining for 19 runs on 27 hits.

San Jose’s Yorlis Rodriguez was 2-4 with two home runs, his 2nd and 3rd of the year. The Giants also got homers from Aeverson Arteaga (5) and Adrian Sugastey (2).

Stiward Aquino (W, 1-1) got the win for Inland Empire with 1 1/3 IP with no runs, hits or walks allowed and three strikeouts. Joey Walsh (S, 1) went the final three innings with just one run allowed on one hit with no walks and three Ks.

Game two of the six game series is Wednesday at 7:05PM.
