QUAKES BEAT STORM WITH 1-HITTER

Jerming Rosario went five perfect innings for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Friday night and Alex De Jesus hit his fourth home run of the season in a 4-0 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm. Rosario (W, 1-2) combined with Octavio Becerra and Joan Valdez to throw a one-hit shutout.

Rosario allowed no hits or walks while striking out six and threw 59 pitches of which 42 were strikes. Becerra allowed the only hit, a seventh-inning double to Marcos Castanon, while walking one and striking out two over two innings. Valdez covered the final two innings with a walk and a strikeout while throwing 25 pitches, 14 for strikes.

De Jesus launched his two-run shot in the third and it was all the offense the Quakes would need. They tacked on single runs in the fifth and eighth innings. Damon Keith went 3-for-4 with two doubles and leads the California League in OBP (.509), SLG (.647) and OPS (1.156) while having the second highest batting average at .388.

The Quakes pulled even with the Storm in the South division, both at 16-9, and have won three of the first four games of this six-game series. Game five is Saturday at 5:05PM.
