The first-place showdown in the North division continued on Thursday with San Jose (37-20) beating Fresno (36-21) and taking a one-game lead. Rancho Cucamonga (29-27) won its fourth straight game to remain one game ahead of Inland Empire (28-28).

Modesto (34-23) saw its 10-game win streak snapped as Stockton (24-33) shut them out 9-0. And Inland Empire handed Visalia (13-44) it’s 11th straight loss.

OF EDWIN YON (IE) – On June  13th, Edwin Yon went 1-for-4 with his first HR of the season and was batting .167. Yon was sent to the ACL and since coming  back he has been on fire. In six games in July Yon is slashing  .429/.538/1.143 with 4 HRs.

OF ELIJAH GREENE (IE) – Over his last five games before being promoted to AA Rocket City, Greene went 12-for-18 including a 5-for-6 night on Wednesday.

OF JAIRO POMARES (SJ) – Pomares saw his first Low-A West action on June  15th and in 73 ABs he is hitting .370/.427/.753 with 6 HRs. This week he had back-to-back 4-hit games and in seven games in July his line is absurd: .462/.464/.962.

2B JORBIT VIVAS (RC) – In six games in July, Vivas is batting .385/.429/.538 with a homer, including a pair of 4-hit games.

IF EURIBIEL ANGELES (LE) – Angeles is 14-for-28 in July with a line of .500/.533/.714. He’s riding a 16-game hitting streak and has four multi-hit games in a row.

OF DANIEL MONTANO (FRE) – Red-hot in the month of July (.412/.474/.588), Montano has a 17-game hitting streak that goes way back into June. Improving each month, Montano’s season line is now .310/.388/.468.

HIGH-A

LHP BLAKE WALSTON (HILLSBORO) – Walston shook off a rough first outing and went 5IP on Wednesday night, allowing 3R on 3H and 3BB with 6Ks.

C BRETT AUERBACH (EUGENE) –  In six games at High-A, Auerbach has gone 7-for-22 with a homer. He has a pair of 3-hit games.
