VISALIA WINS WITH 11-RUN INNING

The Visalia Rawhide came up in the top of the sixth inning trailing 6-1 at Rancho Cucamonga Friday night. They sent 15 men to the plate and scored 11 runs and went on to win 13-10.

Deyvison De Los Santos had 3 hits and SP Chen was 2-4 with a double and a walk and drove in four runs. Visalia had 12 hits and drew 10 walks.

Luis Rodriguez was 3-4 and hit his 4th home run of the season for the Quakes. They also got homers from Damon Keith (5), Yeiner Fernandez (2) and Julio Carrion (3).

RAMIREZ HOMERS IN NUTS 9-1 WIN OVER STOCKTON

Ben Ramirez had three hits, including his third home run of the year, to lead Modesto’s 14-hit attack in a 9-1 win over Stockton Sunday at Banner Island Ballpark. Jordan Jackson (W, 2-3) threw five shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Modesto broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Robert Perez singled in a run to make it 1-0. The Nuts added on with four runs in the fifth inning with an RBI double by Edwin Arroyo, a wild pitch and Ramirez’ two-run blast.

PEREZ HOMERS TWICE IN MODESTO’S 12-0 WIN OVER 66ERS

Robert Perez went 3-5 with two home runs and five RBIs and Jimmy Kingsbury pitched five shutout innings to lead the Modesto Nuts to a 12-0 win over Inland Empire on Sunday. Jonatan Clase had three hits, including a triple.

Kingsbury (W, 1-0) allowed three runs and a walk against six strikeouts while throwing 69 pitches, 44 for strikes, over five innings.

Perez has the Cal League lead in home runs (11), and RBIs (35).

QUAKES BEAT STORM WITH 1-HITTER

Jerming Rosario went five perfect innings for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Friday night and Alex De Jesus hit his fourth home run of the season in a 4-0 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm. Rosario (W, 1-2) combined with Octavio Becerra and Joan Valdez to throw a one-hit shutout.

Rosario allowed no hits or walks while striking out six and threw 59 pitches of which 42 were strikes. Becerra allowed the only hit, a seventh-inning double to Marcos Castanon, while walking one and striking out two over two innings. Valdez covered the final two innings with a walk and a strikeout while throwing 25 pitches, 14 for strikes.

QUAKES TOP MODESTO WITH 5-RUN 9TH

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes came up in the top of the ninth inning trailing the Modesto Nuts 8-6 but they put up five runs, winning 11-8 on Friday night. The visiting Quakes strung together five singles and pushed runs across with a wild pitch and a ground out in their game-deciding rally.

Austin Gauthier was 2-for-4 on the night and drove in four runs, including a 2-RBI single in the ninth.

Luis Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a double for Rancho.

CLARKE HOMERS TWICE, PORTS EVEN SERIES WITH NUTS

Stockton’s bats broke out for the second night in a row, led by Denzel Clarke‘s two home runs, in a 14-10 win over Modesto at Banner Island Ballpark Friday night. Clarke, the Oakland A’s #17 prospect, led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot and added a three-run bomb in the seventh. Stockton got three more long balls in outlasting the Nuts to even the series at two games apiece.

A three-run first inning and a six-run fourth put Stockton up 9-2 with rehabbing big-leaguer James Kaprielian in control but the Nuts got to Stockton’s bullpen and made it a slugfest.

San Jose (74-42) wins its 7th straight, closes in on Fresno (72-39) for the division lead, just 1/2 game back. Luis Matos went 2-for-4 with a walk and a HR (15). Harrison Freed with his 8th HR, a grand slam in the ninth to provide the winning margin. Jimmy Glowenke 1-for-3 with three walks. Fresno’s Mateo Gil went 3-for-5 and knocked in five runs.

Walk-off win for Rancho on a Yeiner Fernandez RBI single. RHP Kyle Hurt threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief with no hits, one walk and three Ks. Four Quakes pitchers held the Rawhide to just two hits. RHP Reinaldo De Paula (W, 2-1) finished the game, going 1 2/3 innings and allowing no runs on one hit, no walks and three Ks. Ryan Bliss hit his fifth homer of the year for Visalia.

The Storm scored their 17 runs on 13 hits and 14 walks. Cole Cummings went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored and walked three times. Five Lake Elsinore batters had two hits apiece. RHP Ruben Galindo (W, 5-4) allowed five hits over four innings, one run, and struck out six. All seven of Inland Empire’s hits were singles and the 66ers batters walked once with 13 strikeouts.

SIX-RUN INNING DRIVES MODESTO

The Modesto Nuts put up six runs in the third inning on Tuesday night and went on to an 11-5 win at home over Inland Empire. A 2-0 deficit was erased and four pitchers covered the distance for the Nuts, who won for the seventh time in their last 10 games.

DH Corey Rosier singled in two runs to tie the score at 2-2 to get the third-inning outburst started. Robert Perez and Trent Tinglestad singled in runs before Brett Rodriguez capped off the big inning with a sac fly.

Bryce Miller started for Modesto and went three innings, allowing two runs (1ER) on four hits and no walks with six strikeouts. Leon Hunter (W, 5-1) went 3 1/3 and allowed 2ER on one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts. After a clean inning from Matthew Willrodt, Juan Mercedes pitched the final 1 2/3 innings with no runs allowed on one hit, no walks and five strikeouts.

The Modesto pitchers racked up 18 strikeouts.

Colin Davis was 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Nuts. Alberto Rodriguez also had three hits.

Modesto closed to within six games of San Jose for the final playoff spot.
