SAN JOSE SWEEPS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS

San Jose 3B Casey Schmitt and RHP Wil Jensen were honored as Low-A West Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period of June 7-13.

CASEY SCHMITT – The San Francisco Giants’ #16 prospect went 9-for-20 in five games against Stockton with four home runs. After a slow start, Schmitt has heated up in June, slashing .371/.436/.800. He has hit in six straight games and went 4-for-5 with two homers on Saturday.

 

WIL JENSEN – The right-hander went six scoreless innings on Friday against Stockton allowing one hit and one walk while striking out seven. Jensen threw 88 pitches, 57 for strikes, as the Giants shutout the Ports 5-0. For the season, opponents are batting .195 and Jensen’s WHIP  is 0.98.
