Inland Empire @ Rancho Cucamonga Gm 2
Denzer Guzman tripled with the bases loaded and came in to score on an error to give the Inland Empire 66ers the breathing room they needed to beat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by a score of 7-4 on Wednesday at LoanMart Field. Guzman also drew a bases-loaded walk, totalling four RBIs.
The 66ers took a 3-0 lead before Rancho struck for a run on a Jake Gelof RBI single in the bottom of the third to make it 3-1. That was it for the scoring until IE’s four-run seventh inning that pushed the lead 7-1.
The Quakes came back with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 7-4, but would get no closer. Jesus Galiz doubled in a pair and Luis Rodriguez brought in Galiz on a sac fly.
Jenrry Gonzalez (W, 1-0) pitched 2 2/3 scoreless inning in relief for the 66ers, giving up three hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
Inland Empire (23-15) stays five games up in the South division while Rancho Cucamonga (16-22) drops to seven games out. The 66ers have won the first two games of the series with game three on Thursday at 6:30PM.
