The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes got three home runs on offense and five pitchers combined to hold the Fresno Grizzlies to two runs in an 8-2 win at LoanMart Field on Thursday night. Damon Keith went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and hit his 11th home run of the season to lead the Quakes’ attack.
Jake Vogel got the scoring started in the third inning with a three-run shot, his first of the year. Keith’s fifth-inning blast built the lead to 5-0 before the Grizzlies got on the board with a Juan Guerrero RBI double to make it 5-1.
Luis Yanel Diaz got that run back, plus one, with a two-run homer (11) in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-1, Rancho. The teams traded single runs in the eighth to finish off the scoring at 8-2.
Joel Ibarra started for the Quakes and went two scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and no walks while striking out one. Jerming Rosario (W, 3-6) came on for 4 1/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts to earn the win.
Guerrero and Adael Amador each had two hits for the Grizzlies.
Rancho Cucamonga has won two of the first three games in the six-game series. Game four is Friday night at 6:30PM.
