QUAKES EDGE PORTS 13-12, YUNIOR GARCIA HAS 5 HITS

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes had just enough to outlast the Stockton Ports 13-12 on Thursday night at Banner Island Ballpark. In a game that lasted 3 1/2 hours, the offenses came out firing on all cylinders. 5-2, Stockton after one. 8-6, Stockton after two. The teams combined for 27 hits and 16 walks. Rancho Cucamonga pulled to within one game of first-place Lake Elsinore with the win.

Yunior Garcia was 5-for-6 for the Quakes, including his fourth home run of the season. Kenneth Betancourt was 2-for-5 and also hit his fourth home run. Austin Gauthier was 2-for-5 with a walk and scored three runs from the leadoff spot.

LPH Christian Suarez (W, 2-1) came on in the second inning for Rancho Cucamonga and settled things down with 3 2/3 innings without allowing a run, or a hit while walking one and striking out six. RHP Carlos De Los Santos threw two scoreless innings with 1H, 1BB and 4Ks. RHP Joan Valdez (S, 2) finished the game with 1 2/3 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB and 1K.

Shane McGuire had three hits for the Ports including a double and triple. Junior Perez was 3-for-5 with a triple. Max Muncy hit his 11th home run.

Stockton starter Luke Anderson (L, 3-3) went 3 1/3 IP and gave up 9R (7ER) on 10 hits, 3BB and 5Ks. Aaron Cohn went 3IP, 1R (0ER), 2H, 1BB, 4K.

Rancho Cucamonga has won two of the first three games in the six-game series. Game four is Friday night at 7:05PM.
