GIANTS GET 3 IN 9TH TO BEAT NUTS

The San Jose Giants were trailing 6-4 going to the top of the 9th inning on Wednesday night when they got three runs to stun the Modesto Nuts for a 7-4 win. A walk, a triple and a double tied the game at 6 apiece, then pinch-hitter Grant McCray tripled in the eventual winning run.

Jose Cruz came on to pitch a clean bottom of the ninth with no baserunners and two strikeouts to earn his second save of the season.

Vaun Brown was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and a walk for San Jose. Adrian Sugastey had two hits, including his third homer of the year.

The Giants rapped out 14 hits, three of them triples. Five different players had multi-hit games.

Ben Ramirez broke a scoreless tie in the 8th inning with a two-run homer for Modesto, his fourth of the year. But the lead was short-lived as San Jose followed with the game-winning rally in the next half-inning.

The teams have split the first two games of the series with game three on Thursday night at 7:05PM.
