STORM WINS THIRD STRAIGHT

The Lake Elsinore Storm got eight hits, including three home runs, from the #2-5 hitters and beat the Stockton Ports 7-4 on Wendnesday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Jackson Merrill homered (2) and drove in four runs to lead the 11-hit attack.

Angel Solarte was 3-for-4 with an RBI from the #8 hole. The team’s other eight hits all came from the middle of the order as Merrill, Juan Zabala, Marcos Castanon and Samuel Zavala each had two hits. Castanon hit his eighth home run, Zabala hit his third.

GONZALEZ GEM LEADS LAKE ELSINORE TO SERIES WIN OVER SAN JOSE

Jesus Gonzalez (W, 2-2) struck out seven batters over seven innings and allowed just two runs (1 ER) on six hits and no walks as the Lake Elsinore Storm beat the San Jose Giants 6-2 on Sunday. Carlos Duarte hit his fourth homer of the season and Victor Duarte hit his first to lead the offense.

The solo homers came back-to-back to lead off the second inning for the Storm. Two walks came around to score to make it 4-0 after two. Gonzalez made it stand up and Yerry Landinez (S, 2) threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn the save. Landinez gave up one hit and struck out three with no walks allowed.

STORM WALK OFF WITH 3-2 WIN OVER 66ERS

The Lake Elsinore Storm edged the Inland Empire 66ers with a walk-off single by Cole Cummings for a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon. Jesus Gonzalez went five innings for the Storm and allowed one run on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Alan Mundo (W, 2-0) blanked the 66ers for the final two innings to earn the win.

Carlos Luis hit his first home run of the season for Lake Elsinore. James Wood was 1-for-2 with three walks. Cummings and Lucas Dunn had two hits apiece.

D’Shawn Knowles was 2-for-4 for Inland Empire and Carson Matthews hit his first homer of the year.

Jose Salvador went the first four innings for the 66ers and allowed one earned run on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

The Storm won five of the six games in the series and have the best record in the California League at 15-6, good for a two-game lead on Rancho Cucamonga (13-8) in the South division.
