66ERS TAKE SERIES WITH 12-6 WIN OVER QUAKES

The Inland Empire 66ers used a 7-run inning to break open a close game and went on to win 12-6 over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in the finale of the six-game series at San Manuel Stadium. The 66ers earned the series win, four games to two, and stretched their second-half lead in the South division to two games over the Quakes, Visalia and Lake Elsinore.

Trailing 3-2 going to the bottom of the fifth, IE rallied for seven runs, taking the lead back when Johan Macias hit into a fielder’s choice that brought in two runs. The offense kept rolling and the 66ers added on, highlighted by a two-run single by Mike Peabody. The Quakes helped out by issuing three walks, two wild pitches and a HBP.

PUERTA KNOCKS IN GAME-WINNERS IN 11TH, QUAKES BEAT 66ERS

Jorge Puerta singled in two runs in the top of the 11th to provide the winning margin in Rancho Cucamonga’s 8-6 win over the Inland Empire 66ers on Saturday night at San Manuel Stadium. A flurry of late scoring came out in favor of the Quakes as they now can go for a series split on Sunday.

Rancho took a 5-3 lead into eighth inning when Nelson Rada hit a two-out single with the bases loaded that saw the tying runs score before the third out was made on the bases.

66ERS RALLY PAST QUAKES

A four-run eighth inning pushed the Inland Empire 66ers past the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for a 5-4 win on Thursday night at San Manuel Stadium. Coming up to bat with a 4-1 deficit, the 66ers (7-5) rallied for the win and took sole possession of first place in the South division.

The Quakes (6-6) did all of their scoring in a four-run second inning that included Jesus Galiz‘ fourth home run of the season. Starter Peter Heubeck kept the 66ers quiet, going five innings and allowing one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA EVENS SERIES WITH 2-0 SHUTOUT OF 66ERS

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes forced their way into a three-way tie for first place with a 2-0 win over Inland Empire on Wednesday night at San Manuel Stadium. Three pitchers held the 66ers to just three hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts and a two-run fifth-inning rally held up as the Quakes improved to 6-5 on the season.

Christian Romero started and went four innings, allowing the three hits and one walk against four strikeouts. Joel Ibarra (W, 5-1) came on for three scoreless innings with no hits or walks and three strikeouts. Kelvin Ramirez (S, 1) finished it off with two innings of no hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

PEABODY RBI SINGLE WALKS IT OFF FOR INLAND EMPIRE

The Inland Empire 66ers got a two-out run in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extras, then Mike Peabody singled in the installed runner in the 10th for a 2-1 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Tuesday.

The 66ers were shut out for eight innings and entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 1-0. Rolondo Flores hit a ground-rule double to bring in the tying run with two outs. Flores was 2-for-4 on the night.

Quinton Martinez (W, 2-1) struck out the side in the top of the 10th. Martinez went two innings without allowing any runs or hits while striking out five.

RAWHIDE DROP QUAKES FOR SERIES WIN

The Visalia Rawhide won for the third night in a row, defeating the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by a score of 11-4 on Monday at LoanMart Field. LF Anderson Rojas was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs with two runs scored to lead the Rawhide’s 10-hit attack. Visalia drew nine walks with Riquelmin Cabral taking four of the free passes.

The visiting Rawhide scored the first six runs over their first four turns at bat to get out to a 6-0 lead. Starter Yoscar Pimentel (W, 1-1) went five innings and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one to earn his first California League win.

RYAN RITTER, JARED KARROS NAMED PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Shortstop Ryan Ritter went 12-for-20 with three home runs for Fresno against Stockton before being called up to high-A Spokane on July 3rd. On Thursday night, the 2022 4th-round draft pick went 4-for-4 with two home runs. On the season Ritter is batting .305/.405/.606

Rancho Cucamonga RHP Jared Karros threw five shutout innings against Visalia on Wednesday night to earn Cal League Pitcher of the Week honors. Karros held the Rawhide to just one hit with no walks and three strikeouts. Over 11 outings this season (8 starts) the 2022 16th-round draft pick has held opponents to a .193 batting average with a WHIP of 0.95

MICHAEL ARROYO, PAYTON MARTIN NAMED PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Modesto SS Michael Arroyo was named Cal League Player of the Week for the week of June 19 – 25. The 18-year old from Columbia went 10-for-24 in hitting in all six games against Fresno. Arroyo has hit in 13 of 14 games with the Nuts and is slashing .348/.444/.652 since his promotion from the ACL on June 13th.

Rancho Cucamonga’s Payton Martin threw six scoreless innings over two appearances against Lake Elsinore to earn Cal League Pitcher of the Week honors. On Tuesday, the 19-year old started and went three innings with just one hit and one walk allowed against six strikeouts. On Sunday, Martin came out of the bullpen for three more shutout innings with no hits or walks and five strikeouts.
