CARIGG HAS FOUR HITS, THREE TRIPLES IN GRIZZLIES WIN

A night after blasing his first Cal League home run, Cole Carigg tripled three times, scored twice and drove in a run as the Fresno Grizzlies beat the Modesto Nuts 10-6 at John Thurman Field Saturday night. Fresno has won three of the first five games of the six-game series and goes for the series win on Sunday.

After Carigg started the game with his first triple, Dyan Jorge drove him in as Fresno took a quick 1-0 lead. Jorge went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

The Grizzlies went up 5-0 in the third inning before Modesto struck for six runs over the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-5 lead. Tatem Levins and Brock Rodden each had two-RBI singles in the fourth inning. Gabe Moncada did the same in the fifth inning, putting Modesto up 6-5 with a two-RBI single.

The lead was short-lived as Fresno struck for three runs in the sixth to go back in front for good. Jesus Burgain tied it up with his 10th homer of the year, then a wild pitch brought in the go-ahead run before Jorge singled in another run to make it 8-6.

Carigg tripled in a run in the eighth and then Jorge drove in the final run with a sac fly to finish the scoring at 10-6.

Rodden had three hits and two RBIs for Modesto.

The Grizzlies (32-15) stretched their lead in the North division to six games over Modesto (26-21).

Game six is Sunday at 6:05PM.
