QUAKES OUTSLUG 66ERS TO TAKE LAST TWO GAMES

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes put up five first-inning runs and kept pounding away for a 12-8 victory over the Inland Empire 66ers on Sunday at LoanMart Field. Rayne Doncon capped the rally with a two-run home run, his 13th of the season, and the Quakes salvaged the last two games of the six-game series.

Thayron Liranzo hit his Cal League-leading 19th homer in the fifth inning and had three hits with three runs scored.

The Quakes belted three home runs but Inland Empire was always a few steps ahead. Three Rancho Cucamonga batters had multi-hit games as the team racked up 10 hits. But the 66ers had 14 hits in scoring thier 12 runs.

Inland Empire (25-17) won four of the six games in the series and is now six games up in the South division. Rancho Cucamonga (18-24) is seven games out.

The 66ers travel to Lake Elsinore next while Rancho Cucamonga plays at Visalia.
