GRIZZLIES RIDE 6-RUN INNING TO SERIES WIN

Fresno @ Lake Elsinore GM 3

The Fresno Grizzlies batted around for six runs in the fifth inning and Gabriel Barbosa threw five strong innings in an 8-4 win over Lake Elsinore on Sunday. The Grizzlies (15-3) took two of three in the short series and hold an eight-game lead in the North division.

The teams traded single runs before the six-run outburst in the fifth. Skyler Messinger doubled in two runs to break the 1-1 tie and Jake Snider knocked a bases-loaded triple to give Fresno some breathing room.

Barbosa (W, 7-3) held the Storm to one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts through five innings.

Ethan Salas had three hits for Lake Elsinore and Nick Vogt hit his third home run of the season.

The Grizzlies return home for a six-game series against Modesto on Tuesday while the Storm will host Rancho Cucamonga.
