66ERS WIN IN 10 OVER VISALIA

The Inland Empire 66ers pushed across a run in the 10th inning to knock off Visalia by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday night at Valley Strong Ballpark. The win gave IE (37-24) a five-game lead in the South division with five to play.

Adrian Placencia launched a two-run homer, his 11th, in the first inning to get the 66ers off to a 2-0 lead.  Visalia’s Oscar Santos cut the lead in half with his sixth homer of the year in the third inning.

Werner Blakely made it 3-1 with his fourth homer of the year in the fourth inning. But Visalia tied it up in the fifth when Santos singled in a pair to make it 3-3.

Both bullpens held up through nine innings. The 66ers got their installed runner home on a groundout and a fielder’s choice in the 10th inning and Fernando Guanare pitched a scoreless bottom of the 10th for his first save.

Placencia and BJ Boyd both had two hits for Inland Empire. Jorge Macheco went the first five innings and allowed three runs on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Roman Phansalkar and Dayan Reinoso (W, 1-3) each threw two scoreless innings in relief.

Santos was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Visalia. Gavin Conticello and Kevin Graham each had two hits.

The six-game series continues on Wednesday night at 6:30PM.
