NUTS BLANK RAWHIDE BEHIND CARLSON’S GEM

The Modesto Nuts scored six runs in the fourth inning and Sam Carlson  threw seven dominant innings against the Visalia Rawhide for a 6-0 win on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field. The Nuts (23-14) won for the seventh time in their last ten games and kept their lead in the North division at three games over Fresno.

Carlson (W, 3-1) went seven innings and allowed two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Of his 86 pitches, 60 were strikes. Riley Davis covered the last two innings and gave up one hit with no runs or walks while striking out two.

Modesto broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning and put up all six of their runs. The inning started with two walks and a wild pitch. Jonatan Clase doubled in both runners and was then doubled in himself by Hogan Windish to make it 3-0.

After another walk, the lead was stretched to 5-0 on a 2-RBI double by Walking Cabrera. A groundout brought Cabrera in for the final run.

Game two of the six-game series is Wednesday at 7:05PM
