The San Jose Giants put up six runs in the third inning and added on late to drop Visalia 14-4 at Excite Ballpark on Sunday night. Jared Dupere continued his hot start with the Giants with his second straight three-hit game, including his second home run.
The Giants were trailing 2-1 when they batted around in the third inning and went up 7-2. Visalia starter Liam Norris (L, 0-6) gave up five singles and a double but was also victimized by an error that would have kept the last four runs off of the board.
Dupere went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs. Since joining San Jose on July 7th, Dupere has gone 8-for-15 with two home runs. Yorlis Rodriguez homered (8) and drove in three runs for the Giants.
Jacen Roberson doubled twice and drove in two runs for the Rawhide. Since rejoining Visalia on July 12, Roberson is 8-for-21 (.381) with five doubles and a home run. His OBP in that time frame is .519.
Seth Lonsway went the first three innings for San Jose and gave up two runs on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Matt Mikulski (W, 3-3) went four innings and gave up one run on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts to pick up the win.
San Jose (10-11) won four of the six games in the series and is two games out of first place in the North division. Visalia is also 10-11, two games back in the South division.
The Cal League is taking a break until Friday when San Jose starts a three-game series at Modesto and Visalia hosts Rancho Cucamonga for three.
