SAN JOSE WINS IN 10, CUTS LEAD TO 5

The San Jose Giants came back from down 4-0 and took a 5-4 lead on the Fresno Grizzlies, ultimately winning in 10 innings, 6-5 on Thursday night. Garrett Frechette singled in the installed runner for the win as San Jose beat first-place Fresno for the second night in a row at Excite Ballpark.

The Giants (34-26) trail the Grizzlies (39-21) by five games with six to play in the first half.

The Grizzlies staved off defeat in the top of the ninth inning when Zach Kokoska hit a sac fly to tie the game up at 5-5. The Giants were unable to walk it off in the bottom of the ninth and Hunter Dula shut down Fresno with a scoreless 10th inning, earning the win when Frechette walked it off. Dula (W, 2-2) gave up one hit with no walks and one strikeout.

Grant McCray had a double, a triple and a walk, one of four San Jose batters with four hits.

McCade Brown had a great outing for Fresno, going 5 IP with 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB and 9 Ks. He left with a 4-1 lead and got no decision.

Kokoska hit his fifth home run of the year, a three-run shot.

Game four of the series is Friday night at 6:30PM.
