EARLY OFFENSE LEADS STORM PAST QUAKES, 12-3

The Lake Elsinore Storm raced out to a 9-0 lead on Wednesday night and cruised to a 12-3 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at LoanMart Field. Albert Fabian homered twice (4, 5) and drove in five runs. Justin Farmer added a grand slam (6) for the Storm.

Max Ferguson, Nerwilian Cedeno and Fabian batted 1-2-3 in the Storm order and each had two hits. Ferguson led off the game with a triple and Cedeno singled him in to start the scoring. Cedeno came around to score after a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, a passed ball and another throwing error on a ground ball.

A three-run second inning followed, then Farmer’s slam in the fourth and it was 9-0, Lake Elsinore. Rancho Cucamonga rallied for three runs in the seventh inning but never got any closer.

Jake Vogel and Kenneth Betancourt each had two hits for Rancho Cucamonga.

Back-to-back wins over the Quakes have stretched Lake Elsinore’s lead in the South division to four games. Game three of the six-game series is Thursday night at 6:30PM.
