GIANTS EDGE PORTS ON ROSARIO’S RBI KNOCK

Dilan Rosario broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single in the 4th inning that proved to be the game-winner as San Jose beat Stockton 3-2 on Friday night at Excite Ballpark. Andrew Kachel went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead the Giants offense and the bullpen held Stockton scoreless over the last five innings.

San Jose took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Kachel’s 5th home run of the season. The Ports tied it up in the fourth with a two-RBI single from Elvis Rijo. Rosario went 3-for-4 on the night, including his game-deciding hit in the bottom of the fourth.

Both bullpens held the line the rest of the way. Esmerlin Vinicio (W, 3-6) went two scoreless innings with three hits and two walks allowed against four strikeouts. Garrett Irvin covered the last three innings for Stockton, allowing four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

San Jose has won three of the first four games of the six-game series with game five on Saturday at 7:05PM. The Giants (9-13) moved to within eight games of first-place Fresno in the North division. The Ports (8-14) are nine games out.
