The Stockton Ports scored two in the eighth, two in the ninth to force extras, then pushed across a run in the 10th for a 5-4 victory over San Jose at Excite Ballpark Thursday night. The Giants took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and were cruising with a 4-0 lead before Stockton mounted it’s late comeback.
After finally denting the scoreboard with two eighth-inning runs, the Ports tied it up on a Brayan Buelvas double, followed by a sac fly in the ninth. The deciding run came in on a double-play grounder in the 10th.
San Jose got seven solid innings from starter Dylan Cumming (5 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 K) and Tyler Vogel (2 IP, 2 H, no walks, 3 K).
Stockton got two shutout innings from reliever Franyelson Rodriguez (W, 2-1) and Carlos Guarate (S, 2) pitched a scoreless 10th to nail down the win.
San Jose (8-13) has won two of the first three games of the series. Both the Giants and Stockton (8-13) are nine games out of first place in the North division.
Game four of the six-game series is Friday at 7PM.
