66ERS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT, 3-2 WALKOFF OVER NUTS

Kevin Watson Jr. singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Inland Empire 66ers came back from a run down for a walk off win over the Modesto Nuts on Wednesday night. After surrendering a run in the top of the inning to fall behind 2-1, IE rallied for two to get the 3-2 win at San Manuel Stadium.

The game was a tense pitcher’s duel that was scoreless through five innings, before each team struck for a single run in the sixth to make it 1-1. It remained that way until the back-and-forth action in the ninth.

66ers starter Jake Madden went five scoreless innings, giving up one hit and six walks while striking out six. Modesto’s Tyler Cleveland gave up one one run over six innings on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

LF Jorge Ruiz belted his first home run of the season for Inland Empire.

CF Miguel Perez and LF Arturo Guerrero had two hits each for Modesto.

The 66ers (10-19) have won the first two games of the six-game series with game three going Thursday night at 6:35PM.
