Ben Ramirez had three hits, including his third home run of the year, to lead Modesto’s 14-hit attack in a 9-1 win over Stockton Sunday at Banner Island Ballpark. Jordan Jackson (W, 2-3) threw five shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
Modesto broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Robert Perez singled in a run to make it 1-0. The Nuts added on with four runs in the fifth inning with an RBI double by Edwin Arroyo, a wild pitch and Ramirez’ two-run blast.
The bullpen allowed just one run on three hits over the final four innings, combining for one walk and seven strikeouts.
Arroyo was 2-5 with two runs scored.
Kevin Richards and Jalen Greer each had two hits for Stockton.
Stockton won four of the six games in the series. The Nuts head back home for a series with San Jose while the Ports Travel to Fresno for six games with the Grizzlies.
