STORM BAT AROUND LATE FOR 16-6 WIN

Lake Elsinore was trailing 6-4 going to the top of the eighth inning at Inland Empire on Sunday but they turned it around quickly with an 8-run inning, followed by a 4-run ninth to win comfortably, 16-6. RF Matthew Acosta tripled in two runs to open the flood gates in the eighth inning. Acosta went 4-for-6 with a double and a triple to lead Lake Elsinore’s 16-hit attack.

CF Robert Hassell III was 2-for-5 with a three-run homer, his fifth on the year, and five RBIs. Seven different Storm batters had multi-hit games.

RHP Miguel Rondon (W, 3-4) went 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with five strikeouts.

Inland Empire starter RHP Coleman Crow threw five strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. SS Kyren Paris homered for the 66ers, his second of the season.

Lake Elsinore won the final two games to split the 6-game series with Inland Empire. The Storm will host San Jose starting Tuesday.
