RANCHO CUCAMONGA EVENS SERIES WITH 2-0 SHUTOUT OF 66ERS

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes forced their way into a three-way tie for first place with a 2-0 win over Inland Empire on Wednesday night at San Manuel Stadium. Three pitchers held the 66ers to just three hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts and a two-run fifth-inning rally held up as the Quakes improved to 6-5 on the season.

Christian Romero started and went four innings, allowing the three hits and one walk against four strikeouts. Joel Ibarra (W, 5-1) came on for three scoreless innings with no hits or walks and three strikeouts. Kelvin Ramirez (S, 1) finished it off with two innings of no hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

Simon Reid broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth inning and Dayton Dooney doubled him in for the winning margin of 2-0.

Game three of the six-game series is Thursday night at 6 :35PM. The two teams are now tied with Visalia for first place in the South division standings.
