The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes racked up 14 hits and put 12 runs on the board as they won their third straight game, a 12-4 thrashing of Visalia, on Saturday night at Valley Strong Ballpark. Luis Rodriguez had two doubles and five RBIs to lead the Quakes.
Rayne Doncon got the scoring going in the third inning with a two-run homer, his first since joining Rancho. Rodriguez doubled in a pair later in the inning to make it 4-0.
After a wild pitch made it 5-0 in the fourth inning, Visalia rallied for two runs. But the Quakes got back at it with a run in the fifth and then two three-run innings in the seventh and eighth to stretch the lead to 12-2.
Six of Rancho Cucamonga’s batters had two hits apiece. Dalton Rushing had two hits, a walk and scored three times. Nick Biddison singled, walked and scored three runs.
Starter Chris Campos went two innings for the Quakes and allowed no runs on two hits. Benony Robles (W, 6-2) came on and went four innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Juan Corniel was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk for Visalia. Brett Johnson was 2-for-3 with a double and walked twice.
Rancho Cucamonga (27-26) has won four of the five games in the series with the finale on Sunday at 6PM. The Quakes are five games out of first place in the South division.
