The Inland Empire 66ers erased a two-run deficit with a five-run eighth inning that saw just one base hit and topped Rancho Cucamonga 10-7 on Tuesday night at LoanMart Field. Four walks, a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice all figured into the game-winning rally.
Arol Vera led Inland Empire’s 11-hit offense with a 2-for-4 day, including his fourth home run of the year, two RBIs and four runs scored. Alexander Ramirez was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple.
Connor Van Scoyoc had a 5-2 lead as he went to the mound for the sixth inning, but he gave up a single and Yunior Garica‘s ninth home run of the season and was pulled. Van Scoyoc’s line was 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB and 6 K’s.
Gabriel Hernandez (W, 2-2) got the win for the 66ers with 1 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up a walk and no hits with one strikeout.
Garcia was 3-for-4 for the Quakes. Damon Keith was 2-for-5 and scored two runs.
