2012 top overall pick Carlos Correa was in the Lancaster Jethawks’ starting lineup tonight after missing seven games with a shoulder injury. Correa DH’d and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the Lancaster’s 6-3 victory over San Jose at The Hangar.
Drafted out of Puerto Rico in 2012 at the age of 17, Correa has had four minor league stops, with last season at Quad Cities being his first full pro season. There the lanky, athletic shortstop showed his advanced skills at his young age with a line of .320/.405/.467.
In Correa’s absence, Carlos Perdomo has played SS for the Jethawks and he has had a good run with a .375 batting average and a homerun that came off of a Rancho Cucamonga Quake named Kershaw.
With the win, the Jethawks improved to 17-12 and pulled to within a half-game of first-place Lake Elsinore, pending the outcome of the Storm’s game with Inland Empire.
